About Our Business/Organization Victorious Student Living, Inc. (VSL) is a nonprofit organization that was founded by Nichole R. Jefferson, a staff member at FAMU who saw the need to help students arriving at FAMU without a place to live. She knows that the desire to attend college is so great among some high school and transfer students that they leave home not knowing where they will sleep upon arriving in Tallahassee.
VSL currently focuses its resources on the homeless student population at FAMU because of its limited resources and because the founder works at FAMU. However, as VSL grows with community and organizational support, it hopes to be able to assist other homeless students at neighboring colleges/universities as well as students throughout the nation.
VSL offers transitional living at no cost to students who are homeless. Currently, VSL can accommodate a maximum of two residents at a time.
VSL residents/clients are provided with food, clothing, personal care items, and access to professional counseling (if needed) by our community network. Support services provided or facilitated by VSL include and are not limited to: life coaching, counseling, budget counseling, money management, and assistantships.
