The Ivy Connection, Inc. was established January 2007 after members of the
Chi Upsilon Omega Chapter of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Inc. saw an opportunity to transform the Leon and Jefferson Counties Communities through expanded scholarships, services and programs. The 501(c) (3) status of the Corporation provides a more appropriate platform for the implementation of the charitable and service activities sponsored by the organization. Some of these programs include Pink Hat Tea which provides a forum for health education, Miss Calendar Girl Program which mentors high school girls who are college bound, Father Daughter Dance that enhances that relationship, The Ivy AKAdemy at an elementary school on the South side of the city, and Pink AKAsion Scholarship Ball designed to generate funds for college scholarships. These programs are implemented and executed in partnership with the Chi Upsilon Omega Chapter of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Inc. and other community partners that share and support the corporation’s goals and purpose.
The Corporation is headed by a board of seventeen dedicated, established women who are change agents and have proven records of professionalism and service to the community. All members of the Chi Upsilon Omega Chapter of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Inc. have pledged their time, commitment and resources as volunteers to the Corporation in order to serve those in most need of assistance in Leon and Jefferson Counties.
